When the price is hidden and the next step should be WhatsApp, use the WhatsApp contact button on Squadkin’s quote app. That app can hide prices and offer a WhatsApp button, with label text you write, as a separate control from the request-a-quote form and from Call for Price. The sitewide WhatsApp Chat Button is a different app. It floats on the storefront and opens a chat. It does not hide prices, and it does not replace the quote button on a product card.
Install the quote app for hidden-price products. Add the chat button only if you also want a sitewide widget on pages that are not asking for a quote. Neither app stores the WhatsApp transcript inside Shopify. The conversation stays in WhatsApp. A quote record, in the quote catalog, is created when someone submits the request form, not because they tapped a chat icon.
Two different buttons
The quote app’s storefront replaces a hidden price with the action you configured. Hide-price modes cover the whole storefront, a list of products, a rule on title, type, vendor, price, tag, stock, or collection, or the products that already show the quote button. The removed price is what the shopper should not see. In its place they get the quote path you turned on.
Inside that app, Call for Price and WhatsApp contact buttons exist on their own, each with configurable label text. The request form is the three-step modal: products in a quote cart, contact and shipping details from the form you built, then review and send. That submission creates the quote and can email you and the customer. The WhatsApp button is documented as its own labeled control. The catalog does not say the tap writes a quote, attaches line items, or files a counter-offer.
- Quote app, request form: a structured ask that becomes a quote you can accept, decline, or turn into a Shopify draft order.
- Quote app, WhatsApp button: a labeled contact action for buyers who negotiate in WhatsApp. You write the label. A quote record is not documented as the result of the tap.
- Chat button app: a floating click-to-chat widget, with a popup, hours, and a greeting. It is not a hide-price tool.
Both catalog sections describe their apps as free. The quote app’s free list includes the quote workflow, not a paid seat chart. The chat button’s free plan includes the widget, hours, the consent checkbox, page rules, and click analytics. Confirm each install screen anyway. Do not describe them as one subscription.
When the quote app’s WhatsApp action is enough
Use only that action when the wholesale conversation starts on a hidden-price product and your team already answers WhatsApp. The shopper sees a label you wrote, then goes to WhatsApp. If you later need a formal quote with discounts, shipping, tax, or NET terms, build it from the request form or the admin. Draft-order conversion can include discounts, shipping, tax, NET 7/15/30/60/90, and deposits. That machinery belongs to the quote, not to the chat tap.
Call for Price is the sibling button when the next step is a phone call. Turn on the one your buyers use. The app can turn the add-to-quote button off on collection grids while price hiding stays on.
Login can be required before add to quote. That gate is for the quote cart. The catalog does not say the WhatsApp contact button checks a customer account. Test a logged-out browser.
When you also want a sitewide widget
Add the chat button app when pages with visible prices should also offer WhatsApp. It is a separate theme app embed with its own greeting. The only documented message variable is {{ current_page_url }}. It will not hide a price, and it will not create a quote. If both apps are on, the product card and the floating button are two doors. Point them at numbers your team watches, and say so in the labels.
Page rules on the chat widget can exclude the wholesale collection if the product-card button is the only WhatsApp door you want there. Device rules can keep the floating button on phones. Offline hours dim that floating button and change its popup text. They do not hide it, and they are not a setting inside the quote app’s price hider. The quote catalog does not document that dimmed offline state. Keep the two schedules straight when you explain them to staff.
Message content you must write
On the quote app, the documented text is the button label. Write it so a buyer knows they will open WhatsApp, not submit the form. The catalog does not document a product-title variable on that label. If the label must name a collection, type the words. On the chat button app, you write the greeting separately, and you may include the current page URL. Do not copy one app’s settings and expect them to appear in the other.
An agent list, a consent checkbox, and click analytics belong to the chat button catalog. They are not listed on the quote app’s WhatsApp button. The quote app’s emails, portal, and public API serve quotes. They do not document a WhatsApp inbox. The quote app does not include HubSpot, Klaviyo, or Mailchimp. A file uploaded on the quote form attaches to the merchant email. That path is the form, not the WhatsApp tap.
What neither app stores
Neither catalog stores the WhatsApp conversation as a Shopify ticket or as the body of the quote. If the deal is agreed in chat, someone still has to record the price in the quote, or on a draft order, using the quote tools. A verbal yes in WhatsApp is not, by itself, a documented counter-offer. Counter-offers in the quote app happen in its portal and admin, where an accepted figure becomes a discount on the quote.
Click counts on the chat button, if you installed it, are clicks, popup opens, and send taps. They are not quote totals. A busy WhatsApp day can still be an empty quote list.
Test in this order. Hide the price on one product and confirm it is gone on the product page and the collection card. Confirm the WhatsApp label, and that the tap opens the number you intend. Submit the request form once and confirm a quote exists. Only then add the floating button on a page where the price is visible, and confirm it does not create a quote by itself.
Questions about WhatsApp and hidden prices
Can the quote form and the WhatsApp button show together?
The quote app documents the form and a separate WhatsApp contact button, each available as its own control. If both are enabled, check the product card in the theme so the two actions are readable. The floating chat button is an additional app.
Does WhatsApp create the quote record?
The catalog does not say a WhatsApp tap creates a quote. The request form creates the quote and its line items. Copy any price you agree in chat into that quote if you need the draft-order tools.
Is the sitewide chat button enough to hide prices?
No. Price hiding is the quote app. The chat button opens WhatsApp. Use the quote app on hidden-price products, and add the chat button only for a sitewide door.
Start with Request a Quote and Hide Price when the price should come off the card, or install Request a Quote and Hide Price after you read that page. Add the WhatsApp Chat Button only when you also want the floating widget.
