You do not need a second form app if Shopify Forms already collects the email addresses you use for marketing. Shopify's own app is free to install, and its help page describes forms that display on the store, a discount for joining email, SMS, or WhatsApp marketing, customer tags, analytics, Shopify Flow, and email through Shopify Messaging.
Add a Shopify form builder when the job is one Shopify Forms is not covering for you: a scored quiz, a file upload, a draft order built from product fields, or a ticket with an SLA and a customer-satisfaction email. SK Form Builder documents those jobs. It does not assign them to Starter, Basic, or Pro. The prices are free, $4.99 a month or $49.90 a year, and $12.99 a month or $129.90 a year, and the catalog has no feature-to-plan matrix. Check the plan screen before you add the app for a specific job. The moment to upgrade from Shopify Forms is that gap, not a longer feature grid.
Jobs Shopify Forms already covers
Shopify's forms help is the source for the first app. You can create more than one form, choose what it collects, and choose how it displays. A discount can sit on the form so a visitor has a reason to subscribe. After signup you can tag the customer, build a segment from that tag, automate with Flow, and send email with an app such as Shopify Messaging.
When Sign in with Shop is on, eligible forms can show a Claim with Shop button. You can remove that button on a single form if you do not want it. SK Form Builder's catalog does not include that Shop claim button. Keep Shopify Forms if that button is part of the signup you already run.
The same help page says you can approve wholesale retailers and learn about visitors. Read that path inside Shopify Forms before you add another app only to collect a company name and an email. Shopify Forms does not come installed by default. If it is already on the store, leave it for list growth. Removing it turns off the signups marketing already runs.
Jobs that justify a second app
Stay on one app until someone asks for a result the current form cannot produce. These are the documented reasons to add SK Form Builder.
- A scored quiz: correct answers are defined per field, the server calculates a score, and you can show the score and the correct answers. The quiz does not recommend a product and does not add one to the cart.
- A file upload: the field has an extension allowlist. The catalog does not publish a megabyte cap. Use it when the shopper must attach a photo or a document.
- A draft order: a submission can create a Shopify draft order from product-type fields on the form. Address fields copying onto that draft order are not documented. Check the draft in admin after a test before you promise a finished invoice.
- A helpdesk path: a submission that includes a customer email becomes a ticket with an SLA due date, an agent portal, canned replies, and a 1 to 5 satisfaction email after resolution. The catalog does not assign that system to a named plan.
Conditional questions, multi-step pages, a Google Sheets append, and Klaviyo can matter too. Klaviyo creates or updates a profile and adds it to a list. UTM stays on the submission and on the Shopify Flow trigger. The catalog does not say Klaviyo receives UTM. A signature pad stores a canvas drawing as a data URL. It is not certificate e-sign, and it is not a reason to switch apps for a waiver. If the only request is a newsletter, ignore the rest of the catalog.
What the second app costs to consider
There is no published map from a job to a cheapest tier. Open the app, confirm the job is on the plan in front of you, and compare that price with the time you spend working around Shopify Forms. A free marketing form plus a paid form for one operational job is a normal setup. If the plan screen does not include the upload, the draft order, or the ticket portal, do not install it yet.
Avoid two popups
Two apps can both display a form on the storefront. SK Form Builder can render inline, as a popup, or as a slide-in panel, inside a closed shadow DOM so theme CSS and form CSS stay apart. Shopify Forms also displays on the store. If both are popups, shoppers see two offers and you will not know which list is which.
- Keep Shopify Forms as the only marketing popup or inline email capture.
- Place SK Form Builder inline on the page that needs the extra job: a quiz page, a custom-order page, or a support page.
- If you need an SK popup, turn off the overlapping Shopify Forms popup on that same template.
- Use different confirmation text so a subscriber and a support customer do not get the same sentence.
Shopify Forms can tag customers for segments. SK Form Builder can also look up or create a customer, apply tags, and write metafields. Agree on tag names before both apps write them.
When to uninstall one of them
Uninstall SK Form Builder if, after a month, you never used the quiz, the upload, the draft order, or the ticket portal. The subscriber list should keep living in Shopify Forms. Export any SK submissions you need first. The inbox exports CSV, Excel, and PDF. CSV files over 1,000 rows are emailed as a background download.
Uninstall Shopify Forms only when marketing has moved every signup, every discount offer, and every Flow automation off that app, including the Claim with Shop behavior if you use it. Do not uninstall it on the day the second app is installed.

Questions before you add another form app
We already capture emails. Do we need SK Form Builder?
Not for email capture. Add it when you need a scored quiz, a file upload, a draft order from product fields, or the ticket tools, and only after the plan screen shows that job.
Can both apps stay installed?
Yes. Keep Shopify Forms for marketing signups. Use the other form on the page that needs the extra job, and do not run two popups on the same template.
Will a draft order include the shopper's address?
The catalog documents draft orders from product-type fields. It does not document address fields copying onto the draft order. Open the draft after a test and see which fields Shopify actually received.
Match the job to the app that already does it. When the job is a quiz, an upload, a product-field draft order, or a ticket, read the SK Form Builder page and confirm the plan before you install.
