Shopify checkout trust badges, in SK Checkout Customizer, are a row of icons or uploaded images with labels, shown in checkout. You can use payment or security icons, or you can upload your own images and write the words under them. That block belongs on the checkout step. The catalog does not place trust badges on the thank-you page.

A separate block shows payment-brand icons, up to 10, with spacing, alignment, and hover labels. Use the trust-badge row for the promises you can keep, such as a returns window you actually offer. Use the icon block when you only need the card brands you accept. Neither block reports impressions or revenue, and there is no verified conversion percentage to attach to them.

What a badge can honestly say

A badge is a short claim beside the payment fields. It reassures only when it is true in your store. “Free returns for 30 days” belongs there if that policy is the one on your policy page. A padlock icon does not make the checkout safer than Shopify’s own payment form. Shoppers in the US, UK, and Canada already expect the card form to be on Shopify. The useful badges are the ones that answer a specific worry: when you ship, how returns work, and which wallets you take.

Upload an image only when you have the right to use it. Do not draw a certification mark you have not earned. The catalog accepts custom uploaded images. It does not review those images for trademark or for accuracy. The label under the image should match the policy, not a slogan you hope will lift sales.

  • Trust badges: a checkout row of payment or security icons, or your own uploaded images, each with a label.
  • Payment icons: a different block, up to 10 brand icons, with spacing, alignment, and a hover label.
  • Your words: the label is the claim. Keep it identical to the policy you will honor.

Checkout placement, and the plan that allows it

Because the badges are a checkout block, they follow the checkout-step rule. Shopify’s help on checkout configurations documents app blocks on the information, shipping, and payment steps as Plus. Checkout UI extensions need that extensibility context, and Plus is the plan Help uses for those steps. Open the editor on your store. If the checkout step will not take the block, the badges will not appear, even though the app is free.

Do not move this block to the thank-you page as a workaround. The catalog does not document trust badges there. A thank-you page is also the wrong moment for a security claim about the payment the shopper has already completed. If you wanted reassurance after payment, this particular block is not the documented tool. The thank-you upsell is a product offer on that later page. It is not a badge row.

Non-Plus stores that only wanted icons under the card form should hear that before they install. Thank-you and order-status app blocks are the Basic-and-higher path in Shopify Help. Trust badges are not listed on that path in the catalog.

Payment icons are a second block

The shipping and payment icons block is for brand marks: the catalog names Visa, PayPal, Klarna, and Afterpay among roughly 50 choices, and it caps the row at 10. Spacing and alignment are configurable. A hover label can name the brand. Show icons for methods you actually offer at checkout. A Klarna mark on a store that does not offer Klarna is a false badge, even though the icon is in the picker.

Keep the trust-badge row and the payment-icon row from repeating the same idea twice. One row for policies, one row for brands, is enough. A checkout crowded with both, plus a progress bar and an order bump, hides the pay button. Place the badges where the worry happens, usually near payment, and stop.

A workable set is three labels you can defend without a footnote. One names the returns window that is already on your policy page. One names how you ship, such as tracked domestic delivery, if that is what you buy from the carrier. One names the support channel a buyer can actually reach. Upload a simple image for each, or use a plain icon, and skip seals that imply an audit you did not pass. Read the row on a phone after the labels wrap. A label that truncates into a different promise is worse than a shorter honest line.

Payment icons still need a pass against Settings. If you disconnect a wallet, remove its icon the same day. The picker will not watch your payment settings and drop the mark for you. The catalog’s cap of 10 is a maximum, not a target. Most checkouts read clearly with the few brands a shopper might use to pay.

What not to imply

The catalog has no impression counter and no revenue attribution for badges. You cannot say the row produced a conversion rate, because the app does not calculate one and this article will not invent one. If you need evidence, compare a period with the row and a period without it in your own order data, and remember that shipping speed, price, and traffic mix will move that number too.

There is no A/B test in the app, so you cannot split shoppers between two badge sets automatically. Run one set, then replace it, if you want a comparison. Uploading a “most trusted store” seal does not create a survey. The image is only an image.

  • Write labels that match a real policy page.
  • Upload images you are allowed to use.
  • Show payment brands you actually accept.
  • Confirm the checkout step is available on your plan before you announce the row.

Questions about checkout trust badges

Can I upload my own icon?

Yes. Trust badges can be payment or security icons, or custom uploaded images with labels, in checkout.

Do badges raise conversion?

The catalog does not report that. There is no percentage to quote. Judge the row with your own orders if you need a comparison.

Can I put the same badges on the thank-you page?

The catalog places trust badges in checkout. It does not document them on the thank-you page.

Add the row on a checkout step your plan allows, from SK Checkout Customizer. Install SK Checkout Customizer after the editor shows that step.
